Wind turbines are available for small cabins, homes, very large structures and industrial usage. Like Solar Electric, the power is net metered up to 10kw, and is subsidized at 50%. Farms and schools receive up to 70% subsidy. Wind farms with several million watt capacity are also possible. Sullivan County wind resources have been measured to be $500,000,000 per year.

SASD is currently developing connections between wind developers and county, town and business officials to bring this clean, renewable energy resource to a high level of local production. Benefits such as reduced energy cost, stabilized and lower energy price, profits from local generation for tax mitigation, school budget enhancement, debt retirement, open and farm land preservation  are available. Job creation and other economic stimulation will be substantial.
