WORKSHOPS 2007

SASD engages the community through community service. We understand that motivation is important, but often insufficient, to empower people to take the steps needed to address important energy related issues in their communities:

1. SASD has provided a roadmap for sustainable development in our County to the Sullivan County to Legislature.

2. SASD is designing Renewable Energy systems for town and municipalities throughout Sullivan County. A collaborative approach is used to highlight feasibility and potential savings to the community.

3. SASD has developed an innovative economic development proposal for Sullivan County. We call it “Sullivan Energy Environmental Design” (SEED). SEED presentations have been ongoing, engaging community organizations throughout the County.

4. SASD youth programs are geared to empower young people by assisting them in efforts to address energy related problems within their sphere of influence, such as schools. In doing so, these young people also provide a benefit to the entire community by reducing energy costs for area taxpayers, and reducing a community’s dependence on unsustainable sources of energy.

NYSERDA Energy Audit Training, starts January 28, 2008 at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Sullivan County, Gerald J. Skoda Extension Education Center, 64 Ferndale-Loomis Road, Liberty, NY 12754. For more information click here.
